Before School and After School for Stevenson PACT students

Stevenson PACT families coordinate work and school in many ways. These services help us do it.

For the 2009-2010 school year, after-school childcare options includes Peninsula Day Care, with a bus pickup from the Stevenson site or the Therekauf school adjacent to Stevenson PACT. Other options will be added as the information becomes available. The Futurepactfamilies Yahoo group is a great place to ask questions.

Q: Will there be morning care before kindergarten?
A: Starting with the 2009-10 school year, Stevenson PACT kindergarten begins with the morning bell and ends at lunchtime. There is no more need for morning care.

Peninsula Daycare

Peninsula Day Care provides before and after-school care at their own facility. Rates include transportation to and from Stevenson School. They include all minimal days and no-school days.

YMCA

Mid-Peninsula YMCA plans to provide after-school care at Stevenson School, including all minimal days. YMCA Kids' Place covers no-school days at one of several locations. Bubb School is most frequently used. Students participating in after-school extracurriculars are walked over to the YMCA classroom after the activities are done. As of November 1, 2009, Stevenson PACT children ride the bus to Castro YMCA, pending site certification for onsite YMCA at Stevenson School.

Twisters Afterschool

Twisters picks up the kids from school and offer gymnastics, rock climbing and tai kwon do lessons. During non-class time, there's arts and crafts, homework help for older kids, games, books, sometimes they have movie days. One Stevenson PACT parent recommends contacting Kid's Club director Mi Le, through the Twisters website.

Montecito School Kids Club

Montecito School off of Grant Road is starting Kids Klub, an elementary age drop-in child care program. As of August 2009, the director is looking into arranging for Kids Kab to pick up from some of the schools. There is also space in the Young 5's program, but it is only suitable for late birthday kinders.

While there is some variation from year to year, current after-school activities include chorus, chess club, folkloric dance, drama club, art class, engineering with Legos, and Mandarin language class.
